Wind Mitigation Inspections are mostly for insurance purposes as this tells home insurance underwriters what type of wind mitigating materials your home is constructed with. The purpose of this inspection is to determine if certain procedures have been performed on the home to help withstand adverse conditions during a hurricane. It covers the roofing: Roof shingles or other roof materials and all Opening Protections: Windows, Doors, Skylights, Glass Blocks and Garage Doors.
Why Do You Need Wind Mitigation Insurance?
If you already have a mortgage you have the Wind Mitigation Inspection included and you will need to re- new every 5 years, to keep this insurance which is also called (Hurricane insurance). If you’re getting a mortgage through a bank you will need to get a Wind mitigation Inspection, so basically it’s a requirement from every mortgage company!
